Sally Baldwin
Sally Baldwin is a textile artist based in Mid Devon, Southwest England. Her practice encompasses two and three dimensional installation, collage and sculptural pieces using stitch, moulding and collage techniques, with a preference for papers of all kinds — including handmade varieties — alongside silk and silk fibres. Her earlier work drew inspiration from botanical imagery, though her recent focus has shifted toward exploring fragility within ecosystems and among species. She creates lace-like textile pieces and contemporary lace from stitched and deconstructed paper that conveys delicacy and impermanence. Before her current studio practice, she worked in the fashion industry and subsequently taught in Further and Higher Education. She now dedicates herself exclusively to her artistic work, exhibiting both domestically and abroad, and is a member of IAPMA and Make South West with support from Arts Council England. She won the Sculpture Prize at the 2025 Women in Art Prize.
