Laura Pannack is a London-based photographic artist specialising in portraiture and social documentary work. She explores the complex relationship between subject and photographer through research-led, self-initiated projects that often develop over several years. She believes that time, trust and understanding are essential to capturing truthful representations of her subjects. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, including at The National Portrait Gallery, Houses of Parliament, Somerset House, and Royal Festival Hall in London. She has won numerous prestigious awards including the John Kobal Award, Vic Odden Prize, World Press Photo Awards, Juliet Margaret Cameron Award, HSBC Prix de la Photographie, and Lens Culture Fine Art Awards (2009, 2015, 2021). She is a four-time winner of the Magenta Foundation award and a Getty Prestige Grant recipient. She has published a monograph titled Against the Dying of The Light (2017), and her work is held in The National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection.
