Lindsey Tyson
Lindsey Tyson is a visual artist based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design (1st Class) from the University of Derby and a Foundation in Art & Design with Distinction from York College of Art. With over three decades of creative experience, she began her career in the automotive industry designing woven fabrics, working as a textile designer at Viktor Achter Ltd and De Witte Lietaer in Belgium, before becoming a full-time artist in 2019. Her practice now focuses on abstract mixed-media painting inspired by the elemental forces of the landscape — not depicting specific places but distilling their atmosphere, the meeting point between external landscape and internal response. She is represented by Novus Gallery in Harrogate and Seagull Gallery in Filey, and won the Women in Art H.S.O.A. Emerging Abstract Painting Prize in 2023.
