Artist Profile

Sara Gregory is a figurative painter who explores the emotional dimensions of women's inner lives through portraiture and symbolic imagery. Her practice focuses on what is felt but rarely spoken, employing stillness, gaze, and subtle body language to create narratives that are personally resonant yet open to interpretation. She frequently works with self-portraiture and images of solitary female figures, deliberately creating space for viewers to engage with their own experiences. She originally studied Fine Art at Stourbridge College of Art and taught art for 25 years before leaving to pursue her practice full-time. She is part of the Studio Fridays collective in Whetstone, Barnet. Her menopause series, documenting the effects of perimenopause on her mind and body over seven years, gained international attention and was used as a backdrop for Dr Louise Newson's UK and Australian live theatre tours.
