Bianca Raffaella: The Women in Art Prize Exhibition

Bianca Raffaella is a British artist (b.1992) who works from memory and sensory cues rather than direct observation. As a registered blind artist, her ephemeral floral and figurative works capture fleeting moments of what she calls "persistent vision" — where images appear briefly as faint shadows or flickers of light.

Her canvases, rendered in soft dusty pinks, muted blues, and gentle beiges, have been described by Jonathan Jones in The Guardian as "ethereally beautiful works." She applies paint directly with her hands, never losing contact with the canvas, blending delicate hues until they become hushed impressions.

In 2016, Raffaella made history as the first registered blind student to graduate from Kingston University with a First-Class Honours degree in Visual Arts. She was selected by Dame Tracey Emin for the inaugural Tracey Emin Artist Residency (2023/4) and is represented by Flowers Gallery.

Her selection for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2021, 2025) and the Harper's Bazaar "Three To Watch" feature cemented her as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary British art.
