Vanessa Brassey is a London-based figurative painter and academic philosopher celebrated for her evocative paintings featuring swimmers, landscapes, and portraits. She works as both a visual artist and academic, and has published philosophy work including The Expression of Emotion in the Visual Arts (edited with Derek Matravers, Routledge). She is involved in ongoing research presented through film shorts, sponsored by The British Society of Aesthetics, and has collaborative projects with musicians and filmmakers. Her work has been featured in London exhibitions and art fairs. She was shortlisted for the Holly Bush Emerging Women Painters Prize and the Jackson Painting Prize in 2022.
