Tracy Love is a self-taught painter originally from Jamaica who emigrated to the United States as a pre-teen and earned a Master of Science degree in Geology. She spent 30 years as a professional geologist, including time working in the energy sector in the United Kingdom, before transitioning to pursue art full-time approximately five years ago. She works primarily with water-based mediums, which she describes as offering a high degree of control whilst remaining unpredictable, painting portraits, landscapes, and still life that blend man-made structures with nature. Her landscape work aims to create immersive experiences, while her still life paintings feature folded fabrics combined with saturated colours and dynamic forms. Her artist name 'Obsidian Lime' is a geological reference symbolising the career transition that brought her to this point in her life.
