Born to be Seen. A Colourful Woman.
Gwenda Jones is a contemporary British portrait and figurative sculptor who works predominantly in clay from her studios in Birmingham and Yorkshire. She studied Architecture and Design at Birmingham Central University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Three Dimensional Design, before a distinguished career as a professional interior designer. Her sculpture moves between the equestrian and human form with equal sensitivity, capturing moments of quiet strength, distilled gesture and emotional presence. Much of her ceramic work, often mistaken for bronze, features metallic colouring and patinas inspired by historic cityscapes. Her equine sculptures draw on a lifelong relationship with horses. She has been selected for exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
