Elcin Ekinci

Elcin Ekinci (b. 1980, Turkey) lives and works in Birmingham and Istanbul. She studied a BA in Art and Design from Yildiz Technical University (Istanbul), an MA in Sculpture from Marmara University (Istanbul), and also studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti L'Aquila (Italy). Her work ranges from painting, sculpture and installation to performative practices with various media. She focuses on human nature, layers of ontology, psychoanalysis, representation of biopolitics and gender. The body plays a major role in her practice, particularly as an organic and provocative site of memory and transformation. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Russia, Italy and Turkey.
