Melody Thornton

Self Portraits (inspired by Francis Bacon)

Melody Thornton is a contemporary fine artist and photographer based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. She holds an MA in Fine Art from Leeds Arts University (2021) and a BA (Hons) from the London College of Printing (1999). Her work is marked by curiosity, a direct approach, a confrontational essence, and an unwavering fearlessness, creating pieces at both grand and intimate scales. She was winner of the Women in Art Prize 2023, sponsored by Nikon Europe, and a finalist for the RBSA Portrait Prize (2024). Her work has been featured in ArtistTalk Magazine, Art Seen Magazine, Nest Magazine, and Continue The Voice Magazine, and exhibited at the Women in Art Fair (2023) and Art on a Postcard (2024).
