This is My Little Boy, SE25

Yvadney Davis is a London-based artist whose practice centres on her working-class Black British Caribbean heritage. She holds a BA in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins (2004) and an Art Foundation from Camberwell School of Art (2000). Her work explores nostalgia, identity and belonging, combining gestural brushwork with chrome ink and text sourced from conversations and lyrics. She incorporates vintage mid-century wallpapers, plastic carpet protectors and decorative objects typical of Windrush Generation homes — spaces she describes as offering safety, expression and a connection with 'back home'. Her fashion background informs the importance of style, colour and pattern in her figurative work. She has received the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Prize (2025), the Zsuzsi Roboz Scholarship (2025–2026), the NG Art Creative Residency award (2025), and the Art United Painting Prize (2022). She was a Portrait Artist of the Year semi-finalist on Sky Arts (2023).
