Mandy Racine was born in Galashiels, Scotland and grew up mainly in the south of England, undertaking a Foundation Course in Art and achieving a degree in Fine Art at West Surrey College of Art & Design. In 2000 she moved to Mallorca, Spain, where she worked as a specialist painter on interior design projects before realising her dream to paint full-time from her studio. Her paintings are contemporary takes on classic portraiture, drawing from famous Rococo and Baroque masters including Peter Paul Rubens, François Boucher, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, and Thomas Gainsborough. She works with acrylic, charcoal and pastel, constantly experimenting with textures and layers to convey dynamic flow and movement. She is represented by Laura Rathe Fine Art in Houston, Texas, and Joanne Artman Gallery.
