Jane Andrews

Something Dreadful This Way Comes

Jane Andrews’ work plays with character, identity and survival strategies in an effort to understand, interpret and laugh at the complexities of life. She looks for humour to subvert and the ridiculous in the heroic. Born in Hammersmith, London, Jane Andrews now lives and works in Sussex. In 1994, she completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at West Surrey College of Art and Design, followed by an MA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton in 2020. Her work can be found in the Art UK National Collection, the Atkinson Art Collection, the Nicholas Treadwell Collection and private collections worldwide. Andrews’ oil paintings and mixed-media sculptures create personalised, adapted and distorted allegories, using tragicomic mottos to explore, interpret and laugh at the complexities of life.
